The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. We have an opportunity for a Power BI Analyst and Administrator to join our team on a full time permanent basis, located in any Ahpra office.

The Power BI Analyst and Administrator is a vital role within Ahpra’s Technology Directorate, supporting the organisation with high‑quality reporting, analytics, and enterprise‑level Power BI governance. They will design, develop, and optimise dashboards, data models, and insights that underpin regulatory, operational, and strategic decision‑making across Ahpra and its partners.

A core focus of this role is the administration, governance, and controlled release of Power BI assets across Ahpra’s enterprise environment. Ensuring the platform remains secure, high‑performing, and compliant, while supporting data integrity, consistent reporting, and best practice use of shared datasets and semantic models.

Working closely with business teams, data engineers, and a growing community of Power BI users—uplifting capability, promoting self‑service analytics, and embedding a mature, well‑governed reporting ecosystem across the organisation.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver high‑quality Power BI reports, dashboards, data models, and insights that meet organisational, regulatory, and operational needs.
  • Administer and govern Ahpra’s enterprise Power BI environment, managing security, workspaces, licensing, performance, and compliance requirements.
  • Lead structured, controlled releases of Power BI assets using rigorous validation, version control, documentation, and CAB governance processes.
  • Champion and maintain enterprise reporting standards, including naming conventions, data lineage, shared datasets, and robust RLS/RBAC security practices.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and data engineers to translate requirements into scalable BI solutions and support platform and data quality improvements.
  • Build Power BI capability across the organisation by coaching users, providing training, and fostering an active self‑service analytics community.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex data, modelling, and performance issues, ensuring the reliability and stability of enterprise reporting.
  • Provide clear, expert advice to technical and non‑technical audiences, promoting best practice and supporting informed, data‑driven decision‑making.

About you

An experienced Power BI professional you will have deep technical capability and a strong understanding of enterprise BI governance. You bring a disciplined, methodical approach to managing data, platforms, and reporting in environments where accuracy, security, and compliance matter.

Confident working across both technical and organisational levels, you are comfortable engaging with executives, business users, data engineers, and other stakeholders. Communicating with clarity, you can translate complex concepts into practical guidance, and value consistency, quality, and user empowerment.

You enjoy building relationships, supporting collaboration, and uplifting others’ capability. With strong analytical skills and a proactive mindset, you contribute positively to teams, help solve complex challenges, and play a key role in strengthening Ahpra’s enterprise reporting ecosystem.
